I asked Shirley Yang, "I see these two stones sticking out here. They look odd, but the rocks themselves don’t seem special. If they were meteorites, there should be a crater nearby. Do you see any signs of impact around here?"
Shirley glanced at her watch and replied, "Look at your dive watch on your wrist; it’s not showing any time now. These stones have a lot of crystals on them. I suspect they contain some rare elements that could affect electronic circuits and radio devices. There might have been several plane crashes nearby related to these meteorites. Planes that stray off course could lose all their electronic systems when they fly over this area. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle of Yunnan."
Fatty and I raised our wrists to check our watches, and sure enough, all the data had vanished, as if the batteries had died. I moved closer to the stones and noticed many tiny crystals on them. Having worked as a sapper for years, digging in the Kunlun Mountains, I was familiar with various rock types, but I had never seen this gray crystalline mineral before.
