Zhegushao didn’t understand the latter part of Elder Liaochen’s words about Feng Shui, so he asked, “What’s the ‘One-Eyed Dragon’?”
Elder Liaochen looked up at the moonlight and said, “Beneath us lies a hidden dragon, but it’s unusually small. It only has one hole at its head where energy can gather, hence the name ‘One-Eyed Dragon,’ or sometimes called ‘Dragonfly Touching Water.’ If the shape is elegant and fresh, it indicates a loyal and righteous person; if it looks powerful and imposing, it suggests military authority. However, if the shape resembles a twisted tree with branches sprawling, or if the mountain is uneven and the peak is broken, these are all bad signs. Burying someone here could lead to trouble for their descendants. With the Heishui River changing course, the situation of this spot has already been ruined. The treasure eye at the dragon's head has become a curse. If someone is buried here, it could bring serious problems.” He pointed at the crescent moon and continued, “Look at the moonlight; we didn’t check the almanac before coming out. Tonight is the night of great misfortune, and even the Bodhisattva would close their eyes.”
Zhegushao, being bold and skilled, couldn’t wait until tomorrow to act, especially since the Mysterious Dust Pearl his clan had been searching for might be right beneath them in the Great Buddha Temple. He said to Elder Liaochen, “It’s said that there’s an empty grave beneath the Great Buddha Temple. Since it’s unclaimed, we shouldn’t follow the usual rules. I’ll use my whirlwind shovel to open a hole, grab what we need, and then we’ll leave. As long as we’re careful, there shouldn’t be any issues.”
